Thérèse Provenzano, Music Director
Thérèse Provenzano,
MusAD, began her musical training at Brandeis University. While an undergraduate student,
she received the Phyllis Lee Coffey Award in Music, and later studied in Vienna with
renowned pianist Paul Badera-Skoda.
Upon returning to the U.S., Ms. Provenzano attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, earning Master of Music degrees in both conducting and piano performance while simultaneously serving as director of the Collegiate Chorale, Composers Forum, and the Michigan Youth Choir. In addition to teaching at BLFA Camp each summer, she was pianist for the New York Ballet Company and the Independent Ballet Theatre.
While pursuing her doctorate at Boston University's School for the Arts, Ms. Provenzano directed the Boston University Choral Union and Chamber Choir. She was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music education in May 1994. Until 1995, she was Director of Music at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
In addition to directing In Choro Novo, Ms. Provenzano is currently employed as choral director for the Weston Public Schools, Weston Community Chorus and Boston Teachers Chorus. She also consults for the Boston Music Education Collaborative, adjudicates at state and national choral competitions.
